SmarterMail 9.x Released

SmarterTools have released the latest incarnation of SmarterMail 9.x

New Features include:

• Support for Exchange Web Services, a newer data synchronization protocol that will eventually replace the outdated MAPI protocol. Available as an optional add-on at the server level, Exchange Web Services seamlessly syncs SmarterMail messages, contacts, calendars and tasks to third-party email clients like Microsoft Outlook 2011 for Mac, Outlook 2012 for Windows and Apple Mail on Snow Leopard and Lion.
• Mobile enhancements for accessing the Web interface from any tablet computer. Page speed is significantly increased and all features of SmarterMail are fully compatible with touch screens, so users can access their messages, contacts, calendars, tasks and notes from anywhere on an Apple, Android or Windows tablet.
• Instant messaging, that allows users to chat with other users on the same domain. Whether they use webmail or another XMPP-supported IM client to communicate, a user's chat history is archived and searchable, so it complies with Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.
• Several administrative enhancements like validation of a user's "From" address against their SMTP authentication credentials, outgoing spam quarantine that allows administrators to investigate why certain messages are blocked and make appropriate adjustments, if necessary and an outgoing virus quarantine.

SmarterMail 9.x is a free upgrade for all customers with existing Upgrade Protection.

What is Exchange ActiveSync?
Push technology for instant, two-way synching of calendars, contacts, tasks and notes and allows users to access their mailboxes from anywhere using any mobile device, such as the Apple iPhone or iPad, Android tablet or smartphone and Windows Phones.

What is Commtouch Premium Antispam?

Can I upgrade from Professional to Enterprise and receive free add-ons?
Yes you can. However the add-ons will only be valid up to your current upgrade protection expiry. If you upgrade from Pro to Ent and do not have any upgrade protection in place the add-ons will not be included.

How many ActiveSync mailboxes are included?
100 Activesync mailboxes are included in the promotion. If you require more you can purchase extra once they have been assigned.

Are the add-ons included with upgrade protection renewals?
The promotion does not include upgrade protection renewals or re-instatement. You may get better value for money purchasing a new key instead.

I have an old Professional key with no upgrade protection can I get the add-ons?
You will need to first re-instate the upgrade protection and then purchase and upgrade to Enterprise. We will assign the add-ons during the Enterprise upgrade.

I have SmarterMail Professional with more than 60 days of Upgrade Protection remaining can I get the free add-ons?
If you upgrade your key to Enterprise then you will receive the add-ons for no extra charge. However the add-ons will only be valid up to the end of your upgrade protection. When you renew your upgrade protection you will also have to renew the add-ons if you want to maintain them.

Why are the add-ons only available for SmarterMail Enterprise?
The cost of licencing the add-ons from Commtouch and Microsoft means they can only be supplied with the Enterprise version.

What happens when my upgrade protection expires?
The add-ons will also expire at the same time as your upgrade protection. You must renew your upgrade protection AND the add-ons you want to maintain.

How long are the add-ons valid?
The add-ons are valid until your upgrade protection expires (12 months for new purchases). After this time you will have to purchase a renewal of add-ons you want to maintain. 

Can I get the add-ons without upgrade protection?
No. The add-ons can only be supplied if your key has current upgrade protection.

When does the promotion end?
It ends on 5 January 2012 or once all promotional units have been depleted. Whichever comes first.

An Introduction to SmarterMail Mail Server

Customers save over $241,000 on SmarterTools products

We recently renewed our partnership with SmarterTools (official press release). Back in February some of you may recall I posted how we had sold over $415,000 worth of SmarterTools products. I have received our August statement from SmarterTools (and that figure has gone up even more). This time I will focus on the SmarterBundle report.

We have assigned over $163,000 worth of SmarterBundle's to our customers (The SmarterBundle represents $800 worth of software supplied to customers at no extra cost who spend at least $199.00 with ServerTastic).

On top of the fantastic SmarterBundle promotion we also sell SmarterTools products at a 10% discount. Using the numbers from these reports (and a calculator) I have come up with some interesting figures.

If our customers had paid full price for all the SmarterTools products we have sold and SmarterBundles assigned they would have paid just over $946,000 (aiming for $1m by the end of the year!)

If I then calculate the discounts it shows we have saved our customers approximately $241,000!
